But All This Didn’t Happen Overnight
It Took Me (aka Hanne!) 8 Years of Laughter, Tears, Daydreams and a few Sleepless Nights (actually many!) along the way.
I was the student who loved anything but “normal”. I loved colour. I loved curves. I loved creating beyond the edges. So much so that teachers asked me to “tone it down”. Well, you can clearly say, I couldn’t… and (honestly!) I wouldn’t.
Started to work as a trade-fair designer, and loved every bit of it until my Boss said “No” to a well-deserved vacation (after 80-hour-long weeks!). So I quit, went back to my parents’ home, and asked them for “just 1 year” to figure out the life I would one day proudly call mine.
This was the year of experimentation, and also my first paycheck, which, by the way, was only so much as my first quarterly Social Security contributions. I did everything that fascinated me – wrote stories, sewed dragon tails, invented games, and slowly it all started packaging itself into “birthday boxes”… and that is how my first business, Lélé, was born.
I was a finalist in the famous TV Show “De Mol,” and overnight my life went upside down. It opened doors I didn’t even know existed: events, interviews, collaborations, and whatnot. But all of this came with a price: myself
Lélé exploded, bookings poured in from every corner of Belgium. It brought some truly magical moments: hosting a radio show, joining the K3 “Pyjamaparty,” and being part of experiences I’d never dreamt of.
Six years in, Lélé had grown beyond anything I imagined, but I had lost myself in the process. So in 2019, I made the hardest choice: I let Lélé go. Today, Lélé lives on beautifully with Annelore, and you can still book them via www.lelefun.be.
In between, a lot happened: I bought a house in Kortrijk, quit my part-time job, and even flew out with a one-way ticket to Australia. That’s exactly where I found my “Mojo” and now I help people do exactly the same (and for the record, it’s much cheaper than a flight to Australia! 😝).
…now if you thought that was “one hell of a story”. Well, I am just getting started! 😉
